The Venetian is home to the Extravanga Deepstack Competition – LaRosa from Venice talks about Deepstack poker, some of the most famous poker competitions in the world. We interviewed Tommy LaRosa, Venice Poker Room Manager for his background and thoughts on poker.
GT: What’s your narrative background, Tommy?
TL: “I am 43 years old. I was born in Granada Hills, California, and moved to Las Vegas in 1985 when my father moved with work. I am a former minor league career baseball player who got a profession at The Venetian Resort Las Vegas after my baseball days were over. Card games are often a big side of family events. We keep playing for quarters or dollars at the dinner table. Texas Hold’em has been my personal hobby at brick and mortar casinos since I was 21 years old. “
How did you get into poker?
“I started in our Guest Services department in July 1999 working for waiters, and I luckily moved to the Poker Department in April 2006. Because I was trained with the game playing many nights, the transactions took place naturally. Previously, I worked in every place I could in the room, to get as much knowledge as possible. From running chips, reprimanding a few guests on the front board, and turning off the game on the microphone, I take advantage of everything I can to help the room with everything. “
Tell me about your room at The Venetian. How many tables, games you spread, competitions, tools, etc.
“We have 37 table rooms that provide comfort and value for lower limit players. Guest experience is important to us. We have plenty of room between the tables, and a self-service beverage station that provides hot coffee and cold sodas. On specific days, you can get some of the best selections of Texas Hold’em cash games of $ 1-2 and $ 2-5 with no limits, with two competitions a day at 12:00 p.m. and 7:05 p.m. respectively. , at prices ranging from $ 125 to $ 340 with guaranteed prize pool competitions unmatched around town. “
What makes your room famous or unique to players? What is their favorite game?
“Few of the competition’s players are happy with the value our DeepStack Extravaganza competition provides. This competition has a large starting stack, deep lineups, and the largest prize pool collateral, making DeepStack the home of all the lowest-limit players. Our cash game players love our High Hand and Splash Pot promos. When we run the promo, you’ll get the most awesome $ 1- $ 2 and $ 2- $ 5 no-limit Texas Hold’em options in Las Vegas. “
Are there any special events, competitions or upcoming promotions?
“Our $ 1,000 High Hand promo starts October 1 and runs daily until October 31 from 12.00-12.00 am. Players who fit the High Hand during the qualification period also receive $ 2,000. Competition players will enjoy our DeepStack Extravaganza October 29 – November 25 which features over $ 1.9 million in competition prize pools covered.
